You always wanted to do something to help, but weren’t sure where to begin....
Face it, when you see needs of the poor in Africa on TV or on the web, you say to yourself, "Yeah, I wish I could do something, but I'm only one person, and I've got my life here ... What can I do?" So, welcome to the fellowship of a bunch of other ‘only one persons'!
Africa mission Alliance was originally started in Rwanda by a couple of 'one persons' - students who wanted to do something to help the orphans in their area. From that humble start in 2001 it spread to helping widows; then to building schools; then to vocational training programs, then to a touring children's choir. Along the way, many other 'one persons' linked up with them in the US, Canada, the UK, and elsewhere who decided that they could accomplish great things together.
Today, Africa Mission Alliance has over 1,200 sponsored children, vocational training programs for widows, two schools attended by over 700 students, and the Asante Children's Choir. Not bad for something that started with just a couple of 'one persons' who in 2001 just had dreams and ideas...
